Jammu and Kashmir is about to complete a year of being divided into two union territories by the Centre, and the administration has submitted a list of achievements it has clocked in a year.
In the one-year report card submitted to the Union Home Ministry, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has listed 36 notable achievements it made since the contentious August 5 reorganisation.
The report card lists progress made by the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir in the spheres of health, education and job opportunities.
As per an NDTV report, 50 new degree colleges have been opened in the UT in the past year and together they are offering a total of 25,000 seats. Seven new medical colleges have also been operationalised along with five new nursing colleges and one new cancer institute.
As many as 10,000 job opportunities have been announced in the UT, the administration is currently advertising for Grade 1V jobs and 1,800 accountants.
Meanwhile, Sheetal Nanda, Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Rural Development, has informed that the State Staff Commission Board has also started a recruitment drive. She further said that the Himayat orientation scheme, which involves training and hiring local youth, is also proving to be a success. “School and college dropouts are given training as per their skills and out of the ones who are trained 70 percent are given wage employments,” Nanda added.
As per government data, over 74,000 candidates have already been selected to train various programmes under the Himayat scheme, while another six lakh are presently registered with the district employment centres.
