Idli Kadai OTT release: Dhanush starrer to stream on Netflix from THIS date

After months of eager anticipation, Dhanush’s latest passion project, Idli Kadai, finally arrived in cinemas on October 1 and currently stands at total domestic collections of Rs 40.20 crore.

The multi-talented star has taken complete creative charge this time, not just starring in the film but also writing, directing, and co-producing it under his home banner Wunderbar Films, alongside Dawn Pictures.

For those who can’t wait to rewatch it at home, reports suggest that Netflix has likely acquired the film’s digital streaming rights.

IDLI KADAI OTT RELEASE 

As per an Instagram post from OTT nights, Idli Kadai is expected to make its streaming debut on Netlix from 29th October after its four-week theatrical run.

However, an official confirmation from the makers is still awaited. Until then, Dhanush’s fans are making a beeline for theatres to catch his latest outing on the big screen.

During promotions, Dhanush shared the reasons behind his deep affection for Idli Kadai. The actor described it as "one of the most personal films of my career," adding that his maternal grandmother makes her first-ever on-screen appearance in a brief but poignant cameo.

Speaking at the film’s audio launch, he said the experience made him feel deeply connected to his roots and proud of his family legacy.

At its core, Idli Kadai is about rediscovering where we come from. Dhanush uses the story to remind audiences that success and progress shouldn’t mean forgetting one’s cultural heritage.

Arun Vijay plays a strong antagonist in the film, which also stars Shalini Pandey, Nithya Menen, and Arun Vijay.

Supported by Kiran Koushik's stunning cinematography and G.V. Prakash Kumar's moving music, Idli Kadai is being praised as a profoundly moving and visually stunning film.

A part of review of Idli Kadai by Moneycontrol read, "The first half of the movie does an excellent job of conveying Murugan's calm charm, ambition, and some of his heroic attributes. But the emotional father-son theme of the movie is lost in the conflict between the hero and the bad guy in the second half. One of the strongest portions is the bond between father and son, especially when Sivanesan's soul shields Murugan. But using too many cliches and exaggerations makes what should have been a more compelling emotional drama less so."
