Bareilly DM, SSP, Power Corpn chief shifted in UP

Lucknow, Jul 3O (PTI) The district magistrate and a senior police official of Bareilly, which had recently witnessed communal violence, and the head of state power corporation were tonight shifted in a major administrative reshuffle in Uttar Pradesh government in which 14 IAS and 23 IPS officers were transferred. Bareilly District Magistrate Manish Chauhan has been shifted to Lakhimpur while DM (Lakhimpur) Kheri Abhishek Prakash was sent to Bareilly. Bareilly SSP Sanjeev Gupta has been sent to the anti-corruption department in Lucknow while his place went to SSP of Special Task Force Satyendraveer Singh. Managing Director of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) Avnish Awasti has been shifted and put on wait list for his new posting, official sources said. Apparently, his transfer comes in the backdrop of the state's worsening power crisis. Prominent IPS officers who have been transferred include former DGP Brijlal, considered a confidante of former Chief Minister Mayawati, has been shifted to Lucknow as DG (civil defence) from his current post as DG of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Police Academy (Morababad). Another officer, Arvind Kumar Jain, who had held the key post of ADG (Law and Order) in the previous government, has been sent to Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar Police Academy, Moradabad, from his current position as ADG Police Training Institute in Moradabad.
