Torrent Pharma is in advanced talks to buy Unichem Lab's domestic business, sources told CNBC-TV18. Unichem’s domestic business generates nearly Rs 900 crore revenue.
For the domestic assets, Torrent Pharma is likely to offer Rs 3,250 crore, the sources said.
The deal may be announced next week if the talks fructify.
Both Torrent Pharma and Unichem Labs declined to comment on the deal speculation.
Currently, Unichem Lab is ranked 25th in the domestic market. The company's operations are 57 percent of its sales and within the domestic business, chronic care business comprises 59 percent of the sales.
The company's international operations contributes 43 percent to total sales.
