FIIs were net sellers to the tune of Rs 1,172 crore in Index Futures while FIIs net buyers of Rs 1,784 crore in Index Options on Thursday.
February series will start with total future open interest (OI) of Rs 44,878 crore, lowest in the last 8 months.
Nifty rollover was at 67% versus 61% in last series. Nifty Open Interest PCR went dwownat 1.31 versus 1.35 at start of January series.
Put writing was seen at 5400 and 5500. There was no major participation in higher Call above 5800 and 5900.
Delivery based selling and fresh shorts were seen in DLF, Sterlite Industries, NHPC, SREI Infrastructure and HCC. DLF went down 6.2%; its OI was up by 50 lakh shares and delivery volume increased to 22.5 lakh equity shares versus 5.7 lakh.
Sterlite Industries went down 4.8%; its OI was up by 56 lakh shares and delivery volume jumped to 1.44 crore shares versus 79 lakh shares.
NHPC lost 3.4%; its OI was up by 2.2 crore shares and delivery volume went up to 1.96 crore shares versus 43 lakh shares.
SREI Infra tumbled 11%; its OI was up by 20 lakh shares and delivery volume was up to 34 lakh shares as against 9.3 lakh shares on Tuesday.
HCC declined 5.2%; its OI was up by 77 lakh shares and delivery volume increased to 97 lakh equity shares versus 54 lakh shares.
Highest stock futures open interest was seen in NHPC (7.73 crore shares), Suzlon Energy (7.11 crore shares), IFCI (6.44 crore shares), GMR Infra (5 crore shares) and Alok Textiles (Rs 4.96 crore).
