Zomato-backed Shiprocket has acquired a majority stake in Delhi-based Glaucus Supply Chain Solutions Pvt Ltd, which provides enterprise-grade fulfillment services to mid-market brands, the ecommerce shipping and enablement firm said on February 14.

While Shiprocket did not disclose the size of the deal, it said that the two companies will merge in due course.  Working as a single entity, Shiprocket and Glaucus will build solutions that improve speed, accuracy, reliability, and efficiency in the post purchase process across trade channels.

The two platforms will combine strengths to take the complexity out of fulfillment challenges faced by traders, retailers, brands. Shiprocket’s expertise lies in leveraging delivery-behaviour data for end-to-end logistics.

Last year, Shiprocket roped in Zomato as an investor by finalising a deal to raise $185 million in a Series E round which was co-led by the food delivery app and Singapore's sovereign wealth fund Temasek. Shiprocket has been acquiring a bunch of smaller startups after getting funded by Zomato.

''There is a very clear need to remove the fulfillment complexity across B2B and B2C channels for our clients and help them focus on what they do best - make and sell products,'' said Saahil Goel, co-founder and CEO of Shiprocket.

''With our technology prowess, capital availability, and ability to focus on solving problems for our current and future clients, we aspire to become the country's largest provider of fulfillment services,'' he added.
