It's not every day that you see a female chief financial officer (CFO) at the top echelons of Indian IT. Wipro changed this narrative appointing Aparna Iyer as the new CFO replacing outgoing Jatin Dalal, a Wipro veteran of over 21 years who resigned from the position on September 21.
Here’s all you need to know about her:
- The new CFO is a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) and was a gold medalist from the CA 2002 batch.
- Before being admitted to Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Iyer completed a bachelors of commerce degree from Narsee Monjee, Mumbai in 2001.
- Iyer joined Wipro back in 2003 as a senior internal auditor and climbed up the ladder holding key leadership positions in the organisation, in a career spanning over 20 years.
- The incoming CFO has held several finance roles, including Internal Audit, Business Finance, Finance Planning and Analysis, Corporate Treasury and Investor Relations at Wipro.
- According to the company, she has deep expertise in financial risk management, capital allocation, fund raising, driving business strategy and growth.
- Iyer last held the position of Senior Vice President and CFO at Wipro’s FullStride Cloud Global Business Line.
- In her new role, Iyer will report to CEO Thierry Delaporte and will join the Wipro Executive Board.
Iyer will take over the reins from September 22, 2023.
