Manipal Global Education Services, a leading international provider of quality learning solutions in higher education launched Manipal MedAce, a super app for Medical Learning and Medical PG Prep on September 14 amid intensifying competition within the test prep segment.

In a statement, Manipal Global Education Services said that the platform will function in a new mobile and cloud first format.

To be sure, MedAce was launched as a resource for MBBS students back in December, 2021. The new edtech application will now have two products -  Learn catering to MBBS students and Prep for PG Aspirants.

The learn product, Manipal said, will enable MBBS students to supplement campus learning by providing access to learning resources, while the new edtech arm will provide a personalised experience for PG aspirants through its Prep Product.

With this move, Manipal MedAce will effectively compete with Unacademy-owned PrepLadder, which was founded in 2015 by Deepanshu Goyal, Sahil Goyal, and Vitul Goyal and offers recorded content for medical students preparing for the NEET PG exams.

Moneycontrol had reported in November last year on how PrepLadder had come under fire amid a mass exodus of doctor-turned-educators due to pay cuts. These teachers also accused PrepLadder, which accounts for nearly a fifth of Unacademy's total revenue, of cheating.

The new edtech arm will be run by Manipal Global Education Services, a subsidiary of the legacy Manipal Education and Medical Group (MEMG). Manipal MedAce is now available for download on Android and iOS devices, the institution said.

“...With Manipal MedAce, we are combining our passion for innovation with a desire to positively impact Medical Education, by helping learners be even better doctors. I have a first-hand understanding of the challenges an MBBS student is faced with and Manipal MedAce is our effort to create a learning catalyst for students,” said Dr Ranjan Pai, chairman of MEMG.

According to the institution, the Learn product will include micro learning modules, live tutoring sessions, online dissection lab,  3D interactive learning and gamified assessments. Similarly, the Prep product will include personalised study plans, error-free question bank, custom and grand tests, flashcards and workbooks, content curated by subject matter experts.

“Manipal MedAce brings together our rich heritage and expertise in medical education and a deep well researched understanding of the pulse of learners. With MedAce we’ve combined our 60-year expertise in delivering top tier medical content using latest digital technology in a user-friendly manner, which will engage with learners in a format/on form factors they are comfortable with in their daily lives,” said Ravi Panchanadan, managing director and CEO, Manipal Global Education Services (MaGE).
