Jeyandran Venugopal, the chief product and technology officer (CPTO) at Walmart-owned Flipkart is set to depart, people in the know told Moneycontrol. Venugopal has been at Flipkart for over eight years and is leaving for personal reasons, they added.
Flipkart is looking at internal candidates to replace Venugopal and there are senior vice presidents (SVPs) who are in the running, Moneycontrol has learnt.
Venugopal will transition out of his role over the coming quarter, during which Flipkart will identify the right candidate for the job.
Flipkart did not reply to Moneycontrol's queries.
At Flipkart, Venugopal led teams across Product Management, Engineering, Design and User research, Data Science, IT, Security, Infrastructure and Product operations. Apart from that, he also led several business and P&L functions in the company including the overall platform growth and revenue function, customer and traffic program, including the Performance Marketing function, Loyalty Program P&L and the company's Ads Business.
He was also responsible for scaling Myntra, the group's fashion e-commerce portal.
Flipkart has been streamlining operations and has seen executives leave over the past year or so as a result. In August last year its VP and Fashion head Arief Mohamad quit and Myntra's CEO Nandita Sinha took over operations, Moneycontrol had exclusively reported.
Sinha has roped in colleagues like Sharon Pais from Myntra to lead Flipkart Fashion more effectively.
