Realtors' apex body CREDAI today said it aims to skill one lakh construction workers every year. The association has trained more than 26,000 workers across India. Confederation of Real Estate Developer's Associations of India (CREDAI) and realty firm ATS Infrastructure today co- hosted a convocation ceremony of the first batch of Skilling for Construction Workers at ATS sites in Greater Noida.

The association trained the workers at ATS sites in Noida, Greater Noida and Gurgaon through its training partner Rustomjee Academy for Global Skill. The training programme was supported by PNB Housing Finance, under its CSR initiative. Under this programme, 231 candidates were trained at ATS Infrastructure sites.

82 per cent of the workers who appeared for the assessment passed. CREDAI "aims to undertake skilling of 1 lakh construction workers every year", a statement said. "PNB Housing has been constantly building in-roads for upgrading the skills of construction workers and creating a conducive environment for them," Sanjaya Gupta, Managing Director, PNB Housing Finance, said.

According to KPMG report for the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), the real estate and construction sector alone needs 500 lakh additional skilled manpower in the next 10 years.
