Czech car brand Skoda entered the budget premium sports utility vehicle market with the launch of the Kodiaq priced at Rs 34.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
This new all-wheel drive, seven-seater SUV will compete for space against the Toyota Fortuner and Volkswagen Tiguan, Mercedes-Benz GLA, BMW X1 and Audi Q3.
Based on the Volkswagen’s all-new MQB platform which also houses the Tiguan, Kodiaq marks Skoda’s return to the SUV segment which it had abandoned after the discontinuation of Yeti.
The Kodiaq will come with a 2.0-litre diesel engine that will deliver 150hp and 340Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic unit that sends power to all-four-wheels. Skoda claims a fuel efficiency of 16.25kpl.
The SUV will be available in four colours but in just one variant. Bookings will commence from today and deliveries will start from the first week of November.
The Kodiaq comes equipped with 9 airbags, electronic stability control and MKB coupled with smart assistance systems. It comes with hands-free parking which automatically selects parking space.
In case of an accident the multi-collision brake system prevents any further uncontrolled movement of the SUV. It has an electric sunroof and tree zone climate control.

The Kodiaq also features a digital voice enhancement feature which uses the infotainmemt system to transmit the voice from the driver position to passengers in the seat.
