    Reliance Capital buys IT, telecom; drops oil&gas, auto

    Reliance Capital Asset Management bought HCL Technologies, TCS, and Infosys and also introduced Tech Mahindra in its portfolio during June-September 2013.

      Reliance Capital Asset Managementhas increased its investment in information technology, telecommunication and cement & construction space. However, it decreased it investment in the engineering & capital goods, automotive and oil & gas space.

      Manappuram Finance, Orient Cement and Jayaswal Neco Industrieswere the top buys, whileTriveni Engineering, Mahindra Satyam and Jaiprakash Associateswere the top sells by the fund.

      The study of Reliance Capital Asset Management for the quarter of June-September 2013 shows that in the information technology segment, the fund has bought HCL Technologies, TCS and Infosys. It also introduced Tech Mahindra in its portfolio. Meanwhile, it sold exited MT Educare, Zee Learn, Mahindra Satyam and Financial Technologies from the same space.

      In the telecommunication space, it purchased Bharti Airtel, Reliance Communications, Honeywell Automation and Idea Cellular, while it sold Sterlite Technologies. (View - All Bulk Deals by Mutual Funds).

      The fund introduced Orient Cement, MBL Infrastructures, Gayatri Projects, NCC and Tantia Constructions in the cement & construction space. It also bought UltraTech Cement and ACC. However, it sold Madhucon Projects, Vesuvius India, Ramco Cements and exited from SPML Infra, Gammon India and Kajaria Ceramics.

      In the engineering & capital goods sector, the fund sold L&T, BHEL, Jaiprakash Associates and exited from Kirloskar Industries and Timken India. However, it purchased Crompton Greaves, KSB Pumps and introduced National Buildings Construction Corporation. (Check out - Which sectors are attracting Fund Managers?)

      The fund exited from Apollo Tyres and sold Tata Motors, Eicher Motors and Maruti Suzuki India in automotive space. But it introduced Exide Industries and bought Hero Motocorp, Motherson Sumi Systems and TVS Motor from the same space.

      In the oil & gas pack, the fund sold ONGC, BPCL & Oil India and exited from Petronet LNG and Shiv Vani Oil. However, it bought Reliance Industries, Cairn India and Gujarat State Petronet.
