Jubilant FoodWorks is looking to expand the number of Domino’s outlets to 3,000 across the country in the next three years despite worries of a slowdown in consumption, a report by Business Standard said on March 28. Jubilant FoodWorks is the master franchise of the pizza chain in India and recently said that its demand momentum remains upbeat, the newspaper said.
The company that also operates Dunkin’ Donuts and newly launched Popeyes has 2,000 outlets as of now, BS said.
Sameer Khetarpal, chief executive officer and managing director, Jubilant FoodWorks, told the newspaper that he believes consumption will receive a boost as the government taken a number of steps in that regard. He said that the recent tax break provided in the Budget along with the softening of interest rates and the upcoming 8th Pay Commission will help consumption in the country.
Last month, the company had reported a 33 percent dip in standalone net profit at Rs 41 crore for the quarter ended December 31 as against Rs 61 crore in the year-ago period. The Domino's Pizza franchisee's margins were dented by higher wage costs as well as raw materials such as vegetable and meat.
However, the firm's standalone revenue from operations rose 19 percent to Rs 1,611 crore in the third quarter as compared to Rs 1,355 crore in the same period of the previous financial year.
