Janmashtami Stock Market Holiday: Are BSE, NSE open or closed on August 26?

Trading will remain open on MCX in both the morning and evening sessions on the day of Krishna Janmashtami.

The list of trading Holidays for Equity Segment, Equity Derivative Segment and SLB Segment is published annually.

Krishna Janmashtami will be celebrated on Monday, August 26. The auspicious Hindu festival which marks the birth of Lord Krishna is celebrated with great fervour and gaiety by Hindus worldwide.

On account of the festival, banks in multiple cities will remain shut, as notified by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in its annual bank holiday list.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), however, will remain open on the occasion of Janmashtami.

The list of trading Holidays for Equity Segment, Equity Derivative Segment and SLB Segment is published annually at the start of the year which details on the list of holidays.

As far as the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) is concerned, trading will remain open in both the morning and evening sessions on the day of Krishna Janmashtami.

Meanwhile, the banks will remain shut in Gujarat, Odisha, Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rajasthan, Jammu, Srinagar, Uttar Pradesh, Bengal, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Meghalaya and Himachal Pradesh on Monday.
