The investment was made in equity shares as per the rights entitlement. Prior to this investment, GIL's shareholding in GIPL was 33.77% of the outstanding paid-up share capital.
GIPL is involved in the research and development of supercapacitors and materials for advanced battery and related new age technologies. The company is currently in the development stage and has not yet commenced commercial operations.
The turnover of GIPL for the financial year ended March 31, 2024, was ₹1.54 Crore with a net loss of ₹22.31 Crore.

The acquisition does not fall within related party transactions, and no promoter group companies have any interest in the entity. The subscription to the rights issue was on an arm's length basis. No governmental or regulatory approvals were required for this acquisition.
