Commodities rule firm in Chennai foodgrains market

A firm trend was witnessed in the wholesale foodgrains market with a majority of the commodities posting gains during the week ended today.

A firm trend was witnessed in the wholesale foodgrains market with a majority of the commodities posting gains during the week ended today.


Prices of thoor dal, sugar and sooji moved up, while those of urad dal, gram dal and wheat declined compared to the previous week's closing rate.


Thoor dal, sugar and sooji (90 kg) ended the week at Rs 7,500, Rs 3,750 and Rs 2,350 per quintal respectively, netting a gain of up to Rs 100 each per quintal.


Urad dal, gram dal and wheat closed the week at Rs 5,700, Rs 5,800 and Rs 2,200, with a net loss of Rs 300, Rs 200 and Rs 150 per quintal, respectively.


Moong dal and Maida (90 Kg) maintained their previous week rates of Rs 7,200 and Rs 2,200, respectively.
