Govt extends Nitesh Ranjan’s term as ED of Union Bank of India

Ranjan is leading digital transformation in the bank and spearheading strategic shifts in the balance sheet, customer experience and people development

The Union government on September 18 extended Nitesh Ranjan’s term as Executive Director of Union Bank of India by two years. Ranjan's current term expires on March 9, 2024.

"We wish to inform you that Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, Government of India vide notification no. eF.No.4/2(v)/2023-BO.I dated September 18, 2023, has extended the term of Shri Nitesh Ranjan, Executive Director of the Bank for a period beyond his currently notified term, which expires on 09.03.2024 for a period of two years, or until further orders, whichever is earlier," according to a communication from the bank to exchanges on September 18.

Ranjan is leading digital transformation in the bank and spearheading strategic shifts in the balance sheet, customer experience and people development.

Ranjan has been with the Union Bank of India since 2008 where he occupied several important positions namely, Head of Treasury Operations & Strategy, Chief Investor Relations Officer, Chief Economist, and Regional Head. He started his career with Food Corporation of India as a management trainee and then moved to Andhra Bank.

Nitesh Ranjan is a post-graduate in Economics. He has completed the Leadership Development Programme of IIM Bangalore, curated by the Banks Board Bureau in consultation with IBA and Egon Zehnder International Pvt. Ltd. He also dedicated 100 days to imparting ‘Spoken English Programme’ to underprivileged youth, under the Teach-India initiative.
