Flipkart products will now be available globally through its partnership with ecommerce website eBay, as reported by the Economic Times.
Flipkart has launched a global project that allows its sellers to sell products accross the world via eBay. Flipkart recently completed its acquisition of eBay India.
The programme — Flipkart Global — is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Make in India' push. Flipkart will cater sell Indian made goods to non-resident Indians accross the world.
Anil Goteti, who has recently appointed by Flipkart to lead eBay India, told that the program would try to make available ‘made in India’ goods to non-resident Indians (NRIs). They will be offering products across various categories—from saris to handricrafts to lifestyle products.
The global program will let Indian sellers on Flipkart to reach out to 171 million active customer base across 190 markets through the global ecommerce giant eBay.
The shopping will be done through eBay’s platform, but Flipkart will be responsible to fulfill those select orders and deliver them. For this, they will pull the connection eBay India has with India Post.
But the products will not have any specific tag of being provided by Flipkart.
According to the report, the homegrown ecommerce entity will offer the program for its ‘Gold’ category sellers at first and then, they will take the rest—qualifying for global access—under its fold.
