LIC Q2 Results: Net profit rises 32% to Rs 10,053 crore, net premium income up 5.5%

LIC Q2 Results: Solvency ratio increased to 2.13 percent, from 1.98 percent, while asset quality for policyholders’ funds improved.

    Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) on November 6 reported a standalone net profit of Rs 10,053.39 crore for the second quarter of the financial year 2026. This marks a 32 percent year-on-year (YoY) rise from the Rs 7,620.86 crore net profit reported in the same period last year.

    The firm's net premium income meanwhile grew 5.5 percent YoY to Rs 1.26 lakh crore during the quarter under review. Solvency ratio increased to 2.13 percent from 1.98 percent in the year-ago period, while asset quality for policyholders' funds improved.

    LIC's AUM increased by 3.31 percent to Rs 57.23 lakh crore.

    However, the profit after tax (PAT) was down 8 percent on a sequential basis compared to Rs 10,957 crore in Q1 FY26 notwithstanding a 6 percent growth compared to Rs 1,19,618 crore in the April-June quarter of FY26.

    Net NPA for policyholders' fund reduced to Rs 3.94 crore in Q2 FY26, as against Rs 6.17 percent in Q2 FY25.

    LIC's first year premium stood at Rs 10,884 crore in Q2 FY26 compared to Rs 7,566 crore in Q1 FY26 and Rs 11,245 crore in the year ago period.

    The renewal premium stood at Rs 65,320 crore in the quarter under review, up from Rs 60,179 crore in Q1 FY26 and Rs 62,236 crore in Q2 FY25.

    The single premiums stood at Rs 50,882 crore, witnessing a sequential drop from Rs 52,008 crore in Q1 FY26 but up from Rs 46,997 crore in Q2 FY25.

    The PAT increased by 16 percent to Rs 21,040 crore on year on year basis in H1 FY26 with total premium income increasing by 5 percent to Rs 2,45,680 crore.

    Individual Business Non Par APE increased by 30.47 percent to Rs 6,234 crore while Non Par APE share within individual business stood at 36.31 percent for H1 FY26 as compared to 26.31 percent for H1 FY25.

    Group Business APE increased by 20.30 percent to Rs 11,864 crore while the overall APE increased by 3.60 percent to Rs 29,034 crore.

    The Value of New Business (VNB) increased by 12.30 percent to Rs 5,111 crore while VNB Margin (Net) increased by 140 bps to 17.6 percent.

    Overall expense ratio reduced by 146 bps to 11.28 percent for H1 FY26 from 12.74 percent for H1FY25
