A Zomato warehouse in Hyderabad showed to have stored food items with future date of packing, according to media reports that cited food safety officials.
During an inspection conducted on October 29, the officials found 18 kilos of button mushrooms carrying packing label on October 30, 2024, at Zomato's Hyperpure warehouse in Kukatpally, according to reports by Deccan Chronicle and Hindustan Times.
Moneycontrol did not independently verify the reports. Zomato has yet to respond to the incident, according to HT.
Although the warehouse was operating with proper licences exhibited at noticeable places at the premises, it did not have any insect proof screen to avoid entry of insects, which led to houseflies being found all over the premises, according to the Deccan Chronicle report, which added that some food handlers were found without haircaps and aprons.
All these shortcomings were noticed despite the Food Business Operator (FBO) having its license, medical fitness certificates for food handlers, and pest control records, the reports added.
