International law firm CMS on May 28 announced Indian law firm IndusLaw has become one of its member firms. The new entity, CMS IndusLaw, plans to complete onboarding by the end of 2025.
IndusLaw will remain an independent law firm under the CMS brand.
CMS is headquartered in Germany and its member firms operate from over 40 jurisdictions including India.
“This represents a natural evolution for CMS and INDUSLAW, combining complementary strengths and working styles. It will enable CMS to deliver seamlessly coordinated, complex cross-border legal services. It marks a significant milestone in CMS’s global growth strategy, enhancing its capabilities in one of the world’s most dynamic and rapidly expanding legal markets,” CMS said in a statement.
India issues stricter rules for foreign lawyers flying in for client work
Through the partnership, the lawyers of IndusLaw will support multinational clients of CMS looking to enter and operate in the Indian market. The deal will also enable over 6,800 CMS lawyers in more than 45 difference countries to support clients looking to expand internationally from India.
IndusLaw, which has over 60 partners and 400 lawyers, has a presence across the country’s major commercial hubs, including Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi & NCR, Hyderabad and Chennai.
