Infrastructure conglomerate Adani group is exploring opportunities with Canadian business jet maker Bombardier for a collaboration in aircraft services and MRO (maintenance, repair, and operations) sector, CNBC-TV18 reported on September 25.
The potential collaboration will look at harnessing Bombardier’s expertise to elevate MRO standards in general aviation and to focus on creating self-sustaining aviation ecosystem, the report cited Adani group as saying.
Earlier on September 25, Adani group’s Chairman Gautam Adani met Bombardier CEO Éric Martel, where they discussed future partnerships in aircraft services, MRO and defence sector.
In a post on X, Gautam Adani said: “Powering India's aviation growth! Had a great discussion with @Bombardier CEO Éric Martel on transformative partnerships in Aircraft Services, MRO and Defence. Together, we are harnessing synergies for a stronger, self-reliant India.”
Adani Enterprises' defence arm Adani Defence & Aerospace has been vigorously expanding its presence in the country’s defence and aviation sectors, by building a network through strategic collaborations with leading global partners. By these partnerships, the company aims to nurture expertise within Indian small and medium-sized enterprises while strengthening the nation’s overall defence framework.
According to a report in July, India's civil MRO market size is projected to double from $1.7 billion to $4 billion by 2031, but that there are only a handful of MROs in India and the capacity available is not commensurate with the projected growth in the country’s aviation.
