Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) today unearthed a case of undervaluation through bogus billing at Sikka port in Gujarat, involving duty evasion of Rs 50 lakh.

"Customs duty of Rs 50 lakh has been realised from a Mumbai-based marine company, who through bogus billing, had imported a crane platform unit from Singapore for over Rs 5 crore, showing it as a barge module in bills," a DRI official said.

The DRI sleuths detained the consignment imported by the Mumbai firm when it recently landed at the Sikka port, he added.
