Budget carrier IndiGo has received government approval to fly to Singapore, Bangkok, Dubai and Muscat after it completes five years of operations in August this year, it said on Wednesday.

The schedules and dates for the launch of its international services will be announced in the coming months, IndiGo said in a statement.

"This will hasten the process of Indian carriers taking back some of the market share that has been lost over the past many decades to foreign carriers," it said.

Earlier this month Indigo, India's second largest carrier by market share, agreed to buy 180 planes from Airbus in the largest jet order in commercial aviation history.

Last October, smaller rival SpiceJet also launched international services to Nepal and Sri Lanka.
