Delhi BJP has demanded Rs 10,000 crore in the budget for providing basic amenities to the unauthorised colonies in the national capital, says a report in The Financial Express. "This came into place in an unlawful manner, allegedly by paying bribes to government servants and politicians," the report stated. Adding, "People bought plots here at low rates knowing very well that they are committing a crime and yet the BJP is now batting for these very people, looking to get their votes."

Honest taxpayers, who bought houses in legal colonies at market rates (which are extremely steep) are now being indirectly penalised as the money that is cut from their salaries will be used to give these illegal colonies all the amenities, the paper pointed out.
