Motorcycle maker Bajaj Auto has announced an 18% spike in its 2011 January sales numbers, according to a report in The Economic Times. Growing demand for the Pulsar and Discover models from the motorcycle makers stable have led to the increase.
The company sold 3,13,583 units in January, 2011, against 2,66,018 units in January, 2010. Pulsar and Discover added up to 68% of the total volume, Bajaj Auto said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange, according to the newspaper. In the motorcycles segment, the company sold 2,75,622 units in January, 2011, an 18 per cent increase from 2,32,939 units in the same month of the previous year, it said. According to the newspaper, Bajaj Auto reported that its commercial vehicle sales grew by 15% to 37,961 units in January, 2011, from 32,969 units in the same month of the previous year.
