The Union cabinet on October 4 hiked the subsidy for Ujjwala Scheme beneficiaries to Rs 300 per cylinder from Rs 200 per cylinder.

The government has raised the subsidy amount for Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries from Rs 200 to Rs 300 per LPG cylinder, said Union Minister Anurag Thakur during a briefing on Cabinet decisions.

Ujjwala beneficiaries currently pay ₹703 per 14.2-kg cylinder as against the market price of ₹903.

The Union Cabinet on September 13 approved the release of a grant for LPG connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana for over 3 years with a total financial implication of Rs 1,650 crore.
