Starting November 16, Bengaluru Metro passengers can use a single QR ticket for a maximum of up to six passengers.
Currently, QR tickets are issued through mobile applications (Namma Metro, Paytm, WhatsApp, and Yatra) to individual passengers for their journey.
"BMRCL is introducing mobile QR tickets to facilitate family/group travel for a maximum of six passengers from November 16, 2023, based on demand. Mobile QR tickets come with a 5 percent discount on the fare," said BMRCL chief public relations officer BL Yashwanth Chavan.
"The passenger using this facility will receive one single QR ticket encrypted with the number of passengers. For usage, this QR ticket has to be scanned once for each passenger of the group for entry and exit," said Chavan.
"Passengers are encouraged to book mobile QR tickets in advance at their convenience from their homes/offices to avoid queuing at the ticket counters for token purchase," he said.

In November 2022, BMRCL introduced QR code ticketing, allowing passengers to acquire single-journey transit tickets through WhatsApp and the Namma Metro mobile app. WhatsApp, owned by Meta, had stated that it is the first-ever QR ticketing service on its platform.
Bhagya, a WhatsApp chatbot (+91 8105556677), available in English and Kannada, assists passengers in recharging their smart cards, viewing transit timetables, fare tables, and more.
Although BMRCL had initially planned to launch QR ticketing for group passengers, it was delayed for various reasons.
