Bank Holidays In April 2025: As per the holiday calendar issued by the Reserve Bank of India, all non-scheduled and scheduled banks across the country will remain shut on second and fourth Saturdays.

The new fiscal year is starting form tomorrow. With host of money changes such as UPI payments, credit cards and new income tax slabs coming into effect it is important to know the list of bank holidays. This helps you in better financial planning. After all, time is money. The month of April starts with a holiday for most of the banks. It is due to the norms stated by the Reserve Bank of India, which mandates closure of April 1st. Hence, almost all banks across major cities in the country will remain shut for 'closing of accounts'. The RBI calendar, which is issued at the start of each year, states that each city will have bank holiday based on the local traditions as well as events of pan-India relevance. Here's the complete list of cities along with the reason of bank holiday as per the RBI calendar.

Additionally, it should be noted that banks in India also remain closed on second as well as fourth Saturdays and all Sundays. However, all net banking facilities such as money transfer via NEFT, IMPS, setting standing instructions, opening FD and RD will be available to all customers. One needs to have a valid account with activated net banking facility to operate her or his account.
