Rajasthan Assembly Elections 2023: Here's what Priyanka Gandhi says on unemployment in India

The BJP did not want to roll back the farm laws because it had planned to cause losses to farmers and help the industrialists it has been favouring since it came to power, Priyanka Gandhi alleged.

The BJP has nothing to offer to the people of India except its politics of dividing people on religious lines, says Priyanka Gandhi

Ahead of the Rajasthan Assembly polls, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on October 25, accused the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Centre of handing over Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) to industrialists it favours and creating unemployment across the country.

India is witnessing the highest rate of unemployment in 45 years, and this has happened because the Centre seems to be more interested in pleasing its friends who are industrialists, said Gandhi.

“The Congress government had the competence to run PSUs for decades because it was committed to the welfare of the people. These institutes would create employment across the country, and now the Modi government has privatised many without creating even one,” alleged Priyanka Gandhi.

She said that in the states where the Congress party is currently ruling, the focus is on filling vacancies in various departments and creating employment opportunities as these are the basic fundamentals of strengthening the country.

“The government is concerned only about itself and how it can use religion to divide people and get votes. It never considered the plight of farmers, who had to camp on Delhi border for more than a year. The PM withdrew the three farm laws ahead of Uttar Pradesh elections and many farmers had died already,” Gandhi adds.

The BJP did not roll back the farm laws because it had planned to cause losses to farmers and help the industrialists it has been favouring since it came to power, Priyanka alleged.

She accused the BJP leadership of protecting its minister, whose son had mowed down farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri, adding that the minister was not asked to resign then, and now the party has been pretending to show concern for farmers, which is only a farce.

Since polls are scheduled to be held in five states of the country, the BJP is blowing its own trumpet about the Women’s Reservation Bill, but it will be implemented after 10 years. This is once again being used only to gain votes, whereas on the ground, women will have to wait for their rights for a decade, she said.

Taking potshots at the BJP, Priyanka Gandhi said that the party gets rattled when Congress leaders support the implementation of the Old Pension Scheme.

“The BJP government claims it doesn’t have enough funds to implement the scheme, but it does have the resources to purchase aircraft for the Prime Minister, construct a new Parliament, and waive the loans of businessmen,” she adds.

She said that Jhunjhunu, where she was addressing a public rally, is the land of martyrs as people have sacrificed their lives for the nation while serving in the Indian Army. However, the government shattered the dreams of youngsters by introducing the Agniveer scheme, where a youth gets only four years of service without benefits.

“There is a huge population of youngsters who would hit the ground early morning, train themselves to get recruited in the Indian Army. Now, they have stopped applying. The government has reduced the importance of every institute of the country,” said Gandhi.
