Celebrity nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar is all for promoting “local, seasonal, and traditional foods” for the health benefits they offer. She took to her Instagram account and shared three foods for those who suffer from typical cold season issues such as sleep deprivation, gas, bloating, hair fall, dandruff, dry skin, or cracked heels.

While using creams and other external alternatives may help, it is a diet that nourishes from within and acts as a natural cure. These three foods are nutrient-dense and immensely beneficial when incorporated regularly into your diet.

Bajra

Rujuta called bajra the millet of winters, which could be consumed in a variety of forms like roti, ladoo, or a raab. Stating its health benefits, she said, “It is delicious, great for your bones and brain, and it will arrest hair fall in no time. So if you’ve been running low on haemoglobin or feeling a little low, Bajra is for you.”

Undhiyu

It is a seasonal vegetable quite readily available in Gujarat and Maharashtra. According to the nutritionist, “This is a medley of pulses which are tender, of wild and uncultivated vegetables, and also of root vegetables.” She highly recommended it this winter, at least once a fortnight. “It is the ultimate prebiotic that our grandmas have left behind in the form of a beautiful tradition of a recipe and a vegetable to be eaten this winter.” For those who don’t have undhiyu in their region, she suggested preparing a vegetable medley made with tender pulses, root vegetables, and wild and uncultivated veggies.

Dry coconut

Rujuta hailed it as the ultimate rockstar and a cure for a lot of seasonal problems. “If you have been feeling rather lazy and finding it hard to get out of your quit and go for a workout, this is the energy boost that you need and not one more caffeine drink.” She added that dry coconut boosts your energy because it contains medium-chain triglycerides, which are the fats that give you energy and help burn stubborn fat. It gives your skin a smoother appearance and leaves you feeling calm and content.
