Actor Deepika Padukone recently announced that she's going to have her first baby with husband, actor Ranveer Singh. While having a baby is always a wonderful experience, it can also come with some challenges and risks for older mothers. Deepika, who is in her late 30s, may have to take extra care of her health and well-being during her pregnancy and delivery.

As women reach their late 30s, there are two main challenges when trying to have a baby. First, they might not release an egg every month, which can make getting pregnant harder. Second, the number and quality of eggs go down, making it more likely to have a miscarriage because of certain problems with the chromosomes.

Here are some tips to help women over 35 increase their chances of getting pregnant, suggested by Secunderabad-based obstetrician and gynaecologist Madhu Singh.

Start with a fertility check: Singh suggests that seeing a doctor for a fertility checkup is very important. They might do tests to check how many eggs are left and other important hormone levels.

Take vitamins: Taking prenatal vitamins with things like folic acid, iron, calcium, and vitamin D can help the baby grow healthy. Omega-3 fatty acids are also good for the baby's brain and eyes.

Consult a doctor: Before getting pregnant, talk to a doctor for advice. They can help with tips for staying healthy, like exercising and eating well. It's also important to quit smoking and not drink too much alcohol.

Screening tests: Because there's a higher chance of certain problems, think about tests during pregnancy to check for them. This can help confirm if there are issues with the baby.

Watch out for diabetes and high blood pressure: Women over 35 have a higher risk of getting diabetes or high blood pressure during pregnancy. Doctors will check this regularly and suggest ways to stay healthy, like eating right and staying active.

Monitor baby's growth and heartbeat: Because there might be more risks, it is important to get regular tests, including special ultrasounds to check the baby's growth and heartbeat.

Stay with close ones: Pregnancy can be tough emotionally, especially for older moms-to-be. It is therefore important to stay with people whom you love and who care for you to get necessary support and motivation.
