Yash Raj Films (YRF) has denied allegations that its promotional campaign for Mardaani 3 deliberately sensationalised a sensitive public safety issue by linking the film to claims of “800 missing girls” in Delhi. The studio responded after social media speculation suggested that reports of mass disappearances were being amplified as part of a marketing strategy tied to the film’s theme.

The controversy took shape after Delhi Police issued a public warning against misleading narratives circulating online about missing persons in the capital.

According to the Delhi Police, certain viral posts and reels pushing alarmist claims were being boosted through paid promotions, creating unnecessary panic among residents. “Creating panic for monetary gains will not be tolerated. Strict action will be taken against those involved in fear-mongering,” the police said in a statement posted on X.

As the discussion gathered momentum, influencers and content creators began drawing parallels between the missing persons claims and the storyline of Mardaani 3, which revolves around the kidnapping of young girls for scientific experimentation. One influencer summed up the speculation by posting, “Look at the coincidence – Mardaani 3 is based on mass disappearances of girls, and at the same time, news of 800 girls going missing surfaces.”

In response to these claims, Moneycontrol contacted YRF when their spokesperson issued a categorical denial.

YRF's has issued a clarfication as the response to the query: “Yash Raj Films is a 50 year old company founded on the core principles of being highly ethical and transparent. We strongly deny the accusations floating on social media that Mardaani 3’s promotional campaign has deliberately sensationalised a sensitive issue like this and we have immense trust in our authorities that they will share all facts and truths in due course of time," said the YRF spokesman.

The debate traces back to a PTI report which revealed that over 800 people were reported missing in Delhi during the first 15 days of January 2026. While the figure itself was factual, Delhi Police later clarified that the data was being selectively presented and exaggerated online, particularly through sponsored content that framed the situation as an unprecedented crisis involving missing girls.
