Who is Parag Tyagi?

Actor and model Shefali Jariwala tragically passed away late on Friday night at the age of 42, sending shockwaves through the entertainment industry and among her devoted fans.

She was discovered unconscious at her residence in Mumbai, and her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, rushed her to Bellevue Hospital. Sadly, upon arrival, doctors pronounced her dead.

While initial reports suggest Shefali may have suffered a cardiac arrest, authorities have not yet confirmed the official cause of death.

Her body has been moved to Cooper Hospital for a post-mortem examination, as per the Mumbai Police, who are investigating the circumstances. “The cause of death is not yet clear,” said officials.

A video showing a visibly shaken Parag Tyagi exiting the hospital has gone viral on social media. He was seen partially covering his face while sitting in a car, clearly devastated by the sudden loss of his wife.

Parag Tyagi, a familiar face on Indian television, hails from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, and has acted in several popular serials and films. Now 49, Parag married Shefali in August 2014 after the two met at a friend’s dinner gathering.

According to multiple reports, he fell in love with her instantly. However, Shefali—who had gone through a difficult divorce in 2009—was initially hesitant about entering another relationship.

Parag’s patience and caring demeanour eventually won her over, and after nearly four years of dating, the couple tied the knot.

The pair appeared together in the dance reality shows Nach Baliye 5 and Nach Baliye 7, becoming one of the most adored couples on Indian television.

Their relationship was marked by deep emotional support—Shefali stood firmly by Parag during the loss of his father in May 2020 at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, while he, in turn, supported her through her battles with epilepsy and mental health challenges.

As fans continue to reel from the heartbreaking news, the family has yet to issue an official statement. Details regarding Shefali Jariwala’s last rites are still awaited.
