In a landmark cross-cultural partnership, Bollywood actor and entrepreneur Dr. Vivek Anand Oberoi has acquired a 21% stake in Rutland Square Spirits Ltd, a premium Scottish spirits brand known for its award-winning, tea-infused gin. Founded by Nishant Sharma, the company has carved a niche by blending Assam’s rare oolong white tea with traditional Scottish distillation methods.

This partnership marks a convergence of two rich traditions: India’s centuries-old tea culture and Scotland’s globally renowned spirits heritage. Sourced from Dibrugarh—often dubbed the “Tea Capital of the World”—and neighboring regions like Tinsukia and Sivasagar, the tea leaves used in Rutland Square’s spirits represent about 50% of India’s tea output. Their fusion into artisanal spirits symbolizes a unique blend of craftsmanship, innovation, and cultural storytelling.

A key milestone in this collaboration includes the development of a luxury net-zero hotel in Edinburgh. Designed to set new benchmarks in sustainable hospitality, this visionary project will host Scotland’s first Ayurvedic wellness centre and Europe’s first hydrogen-powered luxury hotel. Positioned against Scotland’s dramatic landscapes, it aims to provide a world-class guest experience while championing green innovation.

“I am thrilled to join Rutland Square,” said Dr. Vivek Oberoi. “This venture beautifully bridges two diverse cultures—India and Scotland—through a shared passion for heritage and sustainability. With our upcoming hotel and ongoing product innovation, we are redefining luxury with purpose.”

Founder and CEO Nishant Sharma, alongside Director Veenu Sharma, welcomed the actor's entry into the company, stating, “Dr. Oberoi’s involvement is more than a business investment; it’s a partnership grounded in shared values. Together, we aim to celebrate artisanal excellence and the warmth of Indo-Scottish hospitality.”
