Udit Narayan’s old videos of kissing Alka Yagnik and Shreya Ghoshal resurface amid fan kiss controversy

Udit Narayan has found himself at the centre of controversy after a video of him kissing a female fan on the lips at an event went viral. The undated clip sparked outrage on social media, with many calling his behaviour inappropriate. Amid the backlash, internet users have now dug out old videos of the singer kissing Alka Yagnik and Shreya Ghoshal at public events, reigniting discussions about boundaries and consent in the entertainment industry.

In one video, Alka Yagnik is seen singing on the stage of Indian Idol when Udit suddenly leans in and kisses her on the cheek. Alka, visibly surprised, quickly moves away. Another clip from a different event shows Alka appearing uncomfortable as Udit kisses her again, making a face before stepping back.

Similarly, a video from an award show features Shreya Ghoshal winning the Best Female Singer award. As Shreya walks on stage, Udit greets her with a hug and a kiss on the cheek. While she smiles after the moment, many viewers noted that she initially looked uncomfortable.

Social media has been abuzz with reactions to these resurfaced clips. Many users pointed out how Alka Yagnik and Shreya Ghoshal appeared visibly uneasy in the moments captured on camera.

One fan tweeted, “Shreya clearly felt uncomfortable and laughed it off. This is not okay.” Another user wrote, “Instead of respecting her personal space and letting go, he kept holding her arm, making it worse.”

A comment read, “Alka looks displeased. Stop this harassment, Udit. Sick!” Another tweet noted, “It’s disturbing to see this pattern. Respecting boundaries is important, no matter who you are.”

Amid the growing criticism, Udit defended himself in an interview with HT City, attributing the incident to fan excitement. He stated, "Fans itne deewane hote hain na. Hum log aise nahi hain, hum decent log hain (Fans are so crazy. We're not like that,we are decent people). Some people encourage this and show their love through this...There are so many people in the crowd, and we have bodyguards present too. But fans think they are getting a chance to meet, so someone extends their hands for a handshake, some kiss the hands... yeh sab deewangi hoti hai. Uspe itna dhyaan nahi dena chahiye (this is all madness. One shouldn't give so much attention to it)."
