Sharmin Segal has been trolled for not being expressive enough in her portrayal of Alamzeb, the main protagonist in the show.

‘Heeramandi’ actress Shruti Sharma has come out in support of her co-actor Sharmin Segal, who played the role of Alamzeb in the hit series.

In an exclusive conversation with Moneycontrol.com, Shruti Sharma said as actors their part is to perform. Healthy criticism is always welcome, but trolling makes a negative impact, and she doesn't support trolling of any form.

"I am an actor; my part is to act. And I am not someone who is fit to says some actor is fit for that role or not. And we are talking here about Sanjay Leela Bhansali sir, he has given history to the Indian cinema, and he must have had some vision when he selected someone (Sharmin) for a particular role. I think we need to give him that liberty and trust in him at that point. The show is amazing, and it has been doing great. If we talk about criticism, we are actors and our work is to act and try new things, healthy criticism is always welcome but when you start trolling someone then it doesn't matter who are you trolling, for what are you trolling. Trolling is trolling and it is very negative thing to do. I dont support trolling at all. You can criticise. Audience has the right, freedom to put their point of view. We welcome everything, every review - whether it is positive or negative," she told MoneyControl.

Sharmin Segal has been trolled for not being expressive enough in her portrayal of Alamzeb, the main protagonist in the show.

Talking about Shruti, her role of Saima has gotten immense love and the actress told us that she has been getting love from across the world - Pakistan, Germany, US and many more.

When asked where does she herself five years down the line, the actress smiles and says, "I see myself working till I get old."

"I see myself working as an actor till I get old. This is what I see myself doing. As an actor I never limit myself that I will work only on TV or only Bollywood. I never do that. I am very greedy as an actor, and I want to work as much as I can. I want to play different characters different stories in different languages. I just want to be in front of the camera till I grow old," she said.

Shruti also spoke about her experience of working with Manisha Koirala and how she was always alert when the seasoned actress was around her.

Manisha Koirala has been winning accolades for her performance of Mallika Jaan in the series.

Shruti said she has bonded more with all the actors post the show's wrap and when they met off screen. She was all praise for Sonakshi Sinha, who she said, also gave her advice on how to move ahead in the showbiz world.

"Whenever I had a scene with Manisha ma'am, I was always amused by her charm on the set. I always made sure that I gave my 100 percent because she is very professional on the set. I was also very alert on the set and in my character. So, it was very professional environment on Sanjay sir's set. During the shoot, I have most of the scenes with Shamin, Mallika Jaan (Manisha Koirala), Satto Phatto , Iqbal and with all of them I had a very sweet comfortable chemistry. I was made comfortable to act freely, to act the way I want to. Now after the release. I think we are closer. I am closer with all the actors, when they saw my work and when I was at the success bash then every actors Sonakshi ma’am, (didn’t get a chance to talk to her during the shoot as I didn’t have many scenes). But the kind of love they showered on me after the release at the success party even we met a small get together - is so good. I am so humbled right now that they are so senior and still, they are welcoming me with open arms and gave me a warm hug. They guided me and gave me some advice also how to start in Bollywood and I am so grateful for that," she added.

Shruti, who made her debut with a dance reality show on TV, doesn't want to latch on to every project that is being offered rather she wants to work on the best.

She says after ‘Heeramandi’ expectations will be high and hence she wants her second project to be the "highlight of her career."

"I am trying to pick the correct project and be very wise while choosing my next work. I am very grateful that I am getting so many calls, offers for the auditions and script reading. So, it is overwhelming, and the next one will be kind highlight of my career," she ended.

‘Heeramandi’ directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali is streaming on Netflix and is getting a mixed response.
