Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar, a celebrated filmmaker known for his impactful work in the Marathi film industry, made an impressive foray into Hindi cinema with his directorial debut Chhatriwali (2023). The film received widespread praise from audiences, critics, and industry professionals, cementing his place in the Hindi film industry. Now, Tejas is gearing up for his first release of 2025—Devmanus, which features a stellar cast, including Mahesh Manjrekar, Renuka Shahane, and others.
Tejas shared his excitement about working with Mahesh Manjrekar for the first time, describing him as an invaluable mentor. “Mahesh Sir is not just an actor but also a writer, director, and producer. He understands the business of cinema and every aspect of filmmaking. Working with him has been an incredible learning opportunity. During his free time, we would discuss cinema and the creative process in depth. I call him ‘the walking school of cinema.’”
Tejas went on to elaborate how Mahesh's guidance helped him save money during post-production by sharing a personal insight based on his years of experience. “He once shared a particular insight that helped me save a lot of money during post-production, drawing from his own experiences. Beyond that, he provided invaluable guidance—whether in directing a film, managing actors, or recounting his experiences working with industry stalwarts like Nana Patekar Sir and Salman Khan Sir. From handling actors to persuading them to bring a director’s vision to life, I have learned so much from Mahesh Sir.”
Reflecting on the origins of Devmanus, Tejas revealed, “When I narrated the script to him, he agreed to do it instantly. That was a huge moment for me because we have known each other for a long time. I used to play in his cricket team around 2008, and we shared some great moments on the field. He is a passionate cricket enthusiast, and his team included many young, creative minds from the industry. Although we had never worked together before, that bond was already there. Casting him in Devmanus was like fulfilling a bucket-list dream. We share the same passion for cricket and cinema, which made this collaboration even more special.”
With an exciting slate ahead, including Devmanus releasing on April 25, 2025, and Ground Zero, starring Emraan Hashmi and Sai Tamhankar, Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar continues to carve out his space in both Marathi and Hindi cinema, with a promising future ahead.
