Sudha Chandran, currently seen in Noyontara on Colors TV, recently reflected on her long and eventful career, sharing insights into both her professional journey and personal life. In a candid interview with Hindi Rush, she opened up about how she balanced her rising fame with others' expectations and doubts early in her career.
Sudha Chandran recalled that she signed the iconic show Kaahin Kissii Roz around the same time she got married, which fueled public speculation about whether her busy shooting schedule would affect her personal life. Many people at the time believed her marriage wouldn’t last because she would have “no time to go home.” Instead of letting that pressure derail her, she found strength in her husband’s unwavering support, saying he encouraged her to hold on to the opportunity and pursue her dreams.
“I got married around the same time I signed the show, and people were convinced that I would get divorced because they said I would never get time to go home," Sudha shared.
Amid the criticism, Sudha found strong support in her husband, who encouraged her to focus on her career. “I got a lot of support from my husband, who told me to hold on to this opportunity," she said. Sudha went on to work continuously for eight years, often day and night. Despite the demanding schedule, she described the phase as rewarding. “It was fun, because you were earning fame and money," she added.
Sudha also spoke fondly about her association with Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms. “We were pampered on the sets of Balaji shows. We had vanity vans, and there was no pressure," she said.
At the beginning of her television career, Sudha said she used to charge Rs. 3,000 per day for her work on Kaahin Kissii Roz — modest pay by today’s standards, but an important stepping stone that helped establish her in the industry.
“When I started working as Ramola Sikand, I used to charge Rs 3,000 per day. Today, I charge 100 times that," she said. For her, money meant independence and the ability to fulfil dreams. “It’s not about money; it’s about the fame and respect you have earned because of that money," she added, sharing that she bought her own house with her television earnings.
Recently, Sudha also addressed social media trolling after videos from a Mata Ki Chowki she hosted went viral. Reacting to criticism, she said, “I am not here to justify. Devotion is a personal issue."

Sudha emphasised that her journey has never been solely about money. She noted that the respect, fame, and opportunities she gained from her consistent work have been far more meaningful than the financial rewards alone. She also said that early earnings helped her purchase her own home in Mumbai, a milestone she proudly attributes to her career’s growth.
