Hollywood star Scarlett Johansson has officially cemented her place in cinematic history by becoming the highest-grossing lead actor of all time at the global box office — before adjusting for inflation.

The remarkable milestone, reported by The Wrap, follows the massive success of her latest film, Jurassic World: Rebirth.

Scarlett Johansson replaces Chris Pratt in this most recent installment of the adored dinosaur franchise, playing Zora Bennett, a former military agent dispatched on a perilous expedition to one of the last dinosaur-inhabited islands.

The movie presents a new angle on the ongoing saga and is set in a post-Jurassic World era.

Jurassic World: Rebirth made an astounding $318 million at the box office in just six days, which is the second-highest opening of 2025 to date, only surpassed by the Chinese animated sequel Ne Zha 2.

The Numbers, a website that tracks box office receipts, reports that Johansson's career earnings have now reached an incredible $14.8 billion.

This sum includes films in which she was the star or a member of a top ensemble. Her famous portrayal of Natasha Romanoff, popularly known as Black Widow, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially the four Avengers films and Captain America: Civil War, accounts for a significant amount of that total, more than $8.7 billion.

Notable roles in Iron Man 2, her MCU debut, and her adored voice role as Ash, the punk-rock porcupine, in the Sing animated series are also examples of her box office dominance.

Even more remarkable is the fact that Scarlett only had 36 leading roles to reach this milestone, far fewer than the 71 given to Samuel L. Jackson or the 45 given to Robert Downey Jr., who are both only a few spots behind her. Chris Pratt and Tom Hanks complete the current top five.

In addition to the success of her franchises, Scarlett remarkable ascent to the top of the charts at the age of 40 is evidence of her enduring appeal and versatility across genres, ranging from prestige dramas and animated hits to superhero sagas and science fiction epics.
