RJ Mahvash, known for her candid opinions and fearless approach to life, recently opened up about a deeply personal chapter in her life—her engagement at the young age of 19 and the painful decision to call it off at 21. In a heartfelt revelation in a podcast with Yuvaa, she shared how the experience shaped her views on love, relationships, and marriage.
Mahvash admitted that she currently remains single, having developed a skeptical outlook toward marriage. “I am very much single, and I don’t understand the concept of marriage in today’s time,” she said. She elaborated on how she has never been interested in casual dating, stating, “I only date with the intention of marriage. I don’t believe in casual relationships.” Comparing herself to a scene from the movie Dhoom, she said, “I am that person who pictures their future with their partner before even getting on the bike.”
Reflecting on her past, she revealed, “Growing up in a small town like Aligarh, we were conditioned to believe that our primary goal was to find a good husband and get married.” However, her engagement turned into an emotionally scarring experience as she discovered that her fiancé had cheated on her not once, but three times. Despite the pain, she initially remained silent, fearing societal backlash. “The first two times, I stayed quiet, thinking it would lead to badnaami (disgrace). But how much can one tolerate?” she shared.

The betrayal took a toll on her mental health, leading to severe panic attacks and hospitalization. “Doctors would ask my parents what had happened, but I couldn’t even tell them that the person I fought to get engaged to was the one hurting me,” she confessed.
Despite the heartbreak, Mahvash has emerged stronger, choosing to focus on self-worth and growth, proving that walking away from toxic relationships is sometimes the most empowering decision.
