Rakul Preet Singh has emerged as a prominent figure in the South Indian film industry, known for her captivating performances in hits like Sarrainodu and Spyder. She later made waves in Bollywood with notable films such as De De Pyaar De and Runway 34, demonstrating her versatility across genres. However, during a recent discussion at a popular OTT festival, Rakul revealed that she initially did not envision herself working in South Indian cinema and aimed to focus solely on Hindi films.
Reflecting on her early aspirations, Rakul candidly shared, “At first, I had rejected the movie... I was a Delhi girl, 18 years old, and I thought I would work in films, but I wanted to do Hindi films only.” Her ambition was fueled by a desire to collaborate with prestigious production houses like Dharma Productions and Yash Raj Films. She added, “And I just want to do Dharma and Yash Raj Films kind of films. I was operating on that level. I was just out of school. At that time, as a North Indian, I did not know how big the South industry was.”
Today, Rakul has successfully bridged both the South Indian and Hindi film industries, giving her fans a taste of her remarkable talent. Currently, she is filming De De Pyaar De 2 alongside Ajay Devgn, with the sequel slated for release in summer 2025. Her ability to transition effortlessly between various film industries and genres has solidified her reputation as a beloved and versatile actress, much to the delight of her growing fanbase.
