Rajkummar Rao and Patralekhaa cast Keerthy Suresh in next production: Report

Keerthy Suresh to be a part of Rajkummar Rao and Patralekhaa's second produced film

Rajkummar Rao and Patralekhaa, Bollywood's celebrated couple, are making a name for themselves in the film industry. The two are already preparing for their second production project after finishing their first endeavour, Toaster.

And as per reports the star of the movie this time is none other than Baby John actor Keerthy Suresh, who has also won a National Award.

According to industry sources, the upcoming film will tackle a timely and socially relevant issue—the commercialisation of education. While the project remains untitled at this stage, a source close to the couple revealed to Mid-Day, “Their second production is a satirical take on today’s money-making education system. The story, in a humorous way, highlights how the field of education is all about business and profits rather than imparting knowledge and building the future of the country. The leads play educators, who blow the lid on the goings-on."

With a strictly planned 45-day shooting window, the movie is scheduled to start production in Mumbai on June 1. Despite being relatively new to the role of producer, the couple is reportedly dedicated to making sure that the production process runs smoothly and efficiently.

The source added, “Even as Rajkummar and Patralekhaa are learning the ropes as new producers, they are clear on the kind of projects they wish to back. They are looking for novel stories that go beyond entertainment and reflect on the current social issues.”

This is in line with their publicly stated goal of funding narratives that engage with current issues and provoke thought in addition to providing entertainment.

Rajkummar and Patralekhaa, who were married in a beautiful ceremony in Chandigarh on November 15, 2021, have frequently discussed their love of films and narrative.

The ensemble cast of their debut production, Toaster, includes Abhishek Banerjee, Sanya Malhotra, Archana Puran Singh, Farah Khan, Upendra Limaye, Seema Pahwa, and Rajkummar Rao himself. The Vivek Das Chaudhary-directed movie has already created some buzz ahead of its Netflix debut.

With this upcoming movie, the team appears ready to make a name for themselves as producers who combine entertainment with stories that are relevant to society.
