Pharrell Williams addresses long-awaited collaboration with BTS' RM

Legendary producer Pharrell Williams finally addressed a burning question that has kept the BTS ARMY on the edge of their seats for nearly two years.

In a recent interview Williams answered whether the highly anticipated collaboration with BTS’ leader RM ever be released?

The speculation around this project began in 2022 during a joint interview for Rolling Stone, where Pharrell and RM hinted at working on new music together.

When directly asked about the status of the collaboration, Pharrell’s response was candid. "You have to ask RM," he said with a playful smile, before elaborating on the unexpected turn the project took.

“What I was gonna put it out on, I changed gears and ended up doing something completely different. So all the music that I have from all the different collaborations for that project is there. The songs were great, but the project itself I felt like wasn’t right.”

Pharrell’s answer, while cryptic, seemed to confirm that a track featuring RM does exist but remains unreleased due to a shift in direction for Pharrell's project.

BTS ARMY took to social media to voice their mixed reactions. Many fans expressed frustration and disappointment, questioning if the much-anticipated collaboration would ever see the light of day.

On the other hand, RM has been busy with his solo career. In December 2022, he released his debut solo album, Indigo, which was a soulful reflection of his twenties and featured collaborations with notable artists such as Erykah Badu and Anderson Paak. During his mandatory military service, RM dropped his second studio album, Right Place, Wrong Person, in May 2024.

This introspective album delved into themes of alienation and longing, resonating deeply with fans.

Adding to his solo ventures, RM recently unveiled his first-ever solo documentary film, RM: Right People, Wrong Place. The film offers a glimpse into his creative process and personal journey.
