Rs 30-lakh rooms, sold-out hotels: Delhi sees demand boom as Pichai, Altman headline AI summit

Events of this scale drive not just short-term occupancy but also reinforce Delhi’s positioning as a global Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) and policy hub, said hoteliers.

With the global AI spotlight turning to Delhi, hotel tariffs in the national capital are touching eye-popping levels.

Room rates at top luxury hotels have crossed Rs 30 lakh a night ahead of the upcoming AI Impact Summit, scheduled just a week from now, as the city prepares to host some of the world’s most influential tech leaders, including Sundar Pichai and Sam Altman.

A ‘Garden Luxury Suite’ with a king bed and pool view at IHCL's Taj Palace, New Delhi is priced at Rs 27.55 lakh per night during the AI Summit, with taxes of around Rs 5 lakh taking the total bill to nearly Rs 32 lakh for stays between February 16 and 20. On February 13–14, the same room is available for about Rs 2 lakh a night, including taxes. Tariffs during the summit period are nearly 1,500 percent higher than the Valentine’s Day peak.

For February 16–17, most luxury-category rooms are already sold out, according to the Taj Palace New Delhi's website. Several room types—including Superior and Luxury rooms with Diplomatic Enclave views, as well as premium options such as the Garden Presidential two-bedroom suite and the Presidential Suite with pool view—are currently unavailable, with the site displaying a message stating that no rooms match the selected search criteria.

At the Leela Palace in New Delhi, Maharaja Suite rooms are priced at Rs 6.9 lakh a night for non-members and for members it costs Rs 5.9 lakh for check-in on February 16. Even at The Oberoi, New Delhi luxury suites are available for Rs 5.5 lakh.

In other hotels like Andaz Delhi by Hyatt a Signature Suite is costing Rs 3.86 lakh.

The surge reflects an unprecedented demand spike, with premium inventory fast filling up as global dignitaries, policymakers and industry heads descend on the capital.

Room rates during the summit window are 2-3 times higher compared to January and the first half of February, reflecting demand-led pricing for a high-profile international event, Animesh Kumar, Commercial Head at ibis & ibis Styles India, told Moneycontrol.

Sold-out stays

It is nearly a sold-out situation at the Lalit in Delhi for February 19-20, said Vineet Kapoor, Hotel Manager, The LaLit Suri Hospitality Group, adding that they will be hosting several international leaders and delegates during the summit.

Eros Hotel New Delhi is planning several special initiatives for their global guests. "These include personalized check-in services, curated welcome packages, and exclusive networking events for attendees to connect. Additionally, we will provide information on local attractions and transportation options to enhance their stay," Davinder Juj, General Manager, said.

Also, some of their room categories are running in full capacity during the Summit days.

Even at Jaypee Vasant Continental, the AI Summit demand has translated into near-maximum occupancy, with current levels hovering around 95 percent and only a small inventory remaining for the Summit dates.

Delhi-NCR is seeing a sharp escalation in hospitality demand ahead of the AI Impact Summit, I P Singh, Jaypee Vasant Continental, VP Operations, said.

The demand is being driven by a strong influx of domestic and international delegates, technology leaders, and corporate travellers attending the event. "We are also observing a rise in extended stays, as visitors are combining summit participation with business engagements and short leisure visits within the city. Additionally, corporate block bookings and group reservations have significantly contributed to the spike in occupancy, while there has been a parallel uptick in demand for meetings, dining, and business support services," Singh said.

Singh is also seeing a higher proportion of last-minute premium inventory being absorbed quickly. "Given the current demand momentum and limited availability, securing last-minute bookings, particularly in higher room categories, is becoming increasingly challenging."

Amit Kumar Singh, Founder, OPO hotels and resorts, is seeing healthy occupancy levels during the AI Summit due to spillover demand from luxury and five-star hotels that are either sold out or operating at very high occupancies.

The AI Summit has created a very strong spike in demand for the February 17–21 window, noted Rajiv Mehra, General Secretary, Federation Of Associations in Indian Tourism & Hospitality (FAITH).

"We are seeing occupancies upwards of 90 percent for those dates, with a large portion of inventory blocked well in advance by event organizers, tech delegations and government agencies," he added.

Ravi Gosain, President, Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) is also seeing a pick-up in corporate travel and event-related demand in Delhi during the Summit dates.

ixigo has recorded a 6 times month-on-month jump in hotel searches for New Delhi. "Several leading five-star hotels in Central Delhi are already sold out for 16–20 February, and where inventory is still available, per-night rates are in the Rs 70,000 to Rs 1 lakh range," Aloke Bajpai, Group CEO, ixigo, said.

Events of scale

With the AI Summit expected to host over 35,000 international delegates from more than 100 countries, it not only delivers immediate business impact but also reinforces Delhi’s growing positioning as a global hub for technology-led forums and high-value international conventions, which is extremely positive for the long-term growth of the hospitality industry, said Singh.

Sharing similar sentiments, Kumar said that events of this scale drive not just short-term occupancy but also reinforce Delhi’s positioning as a global Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) and policy hub. "For hotels, it brings high-quality demand, global visibility, and sustained business momentum beyond the event dates."

According to Sonica Malhotra Kandhari, Joint Managing Director, MBD Group, Noida’s emergence as a key technology and enterprise hub, supported by IT parks, multinational offices, data centres, and proximity to New Delhi, has positioned it as a preferred location for large-scale AI and innovation-led gatherings. "Beyond rooms, we see a significant impact of the Summit across banqueting, curated dining, airport transfers, and concierge-led business support."

Harshal Dilwali, Director and CEO, Clarissa Group noted that while Delhi remains the primary base, they are seeing interest from guests looking to combine business travel with short wellness or leisure trips to destinations like Jim Corbett and Mukteshwar.
