Bad Bunny, the rapper-singer born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, has found himself at the centre of widespread discussion following his Super Bowl halftime performance on Sunday night, which drew sharply divided reactions.
Further fuelling the conversation, Bad Bunny wiped his Instagram presence shortly after the performance, deleting all posts, unfollowing every account and removing his display picture. The unexpected move left fans puzzled and triggered a flood of memes, speculation and debate across social media platforms.
Within hours of the halftime show, fans noticed that Bad Bunny’s Instagram profile appeared completely blank. His post count dropped to zero, his following list showed 0, and his profile photo had vanished, intensifying curiosity around the sudden digital reset.
However, the real reason is not known as to why the artist chose to wipe off his Instagram account.
Social media users were quick to share their theories. One fan commented, "He just had the biggest stage possible, so whatever he drops next is gonna have everyone’s attention, whether they loved the halftime show or not", while another wrote, "Bad Bunny deleting his Instagram after the Super Bowl is peak ‘reset the timeline’ behaviour. That’s the universal sign for ‘I know I broke the internet’". Another X user questioned, "Because of his message he passed through Super Bowl performance?"
As for the performance itself, Bad Bunny delivered a set inspired by his hometown community in Puerto Rico, weaving a love story throughout his appearance on football’s biggest night. The show featured guest appearances by Ricky Martin, while Cardi B and actor Pedro Pascal were among the dancers who joined him on stage.
Transforming the Super Bowl stage into a lively, street-style celebration, Bad Bunny performed some of his biggest hits and made history as the first halftime show headliner to sing entirely in Spanish.
The performance drew strong backlash from Trump, who criticised it on social media, claiming it did not reflect American values or standards. Taking to his Truth Social platform, Trump took aim at both the act and the decision to feature Bad Bunny as the headliner.

“Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the U.S.A., and all over the World. This ‘Show’ is just a ‘slap in the face’ to our Country, which is setting new standards and records every single day — including the Best Stock Market and 401(k)s in History!” Trump wrote.
The Super Bowl appearance came just a week after Bad Bunny grabbed headlines at the Grammy Awards, where he won the prestigious Album of the Year honour.
