Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan recently visited Jiaganj, the home-town of noted singer Arijit Singh days after the singer’s surprise retirement. Now Aamir Khan is back in Mumbai and the noted actor took a moment to thank Arijit Singh for his heartfelt contribution to the music of his upcoming romantic drama Ek Din.
Aamir Khan shared a candid photo with Arijit Singh and wrote on social media: “Thank you, Arijit, for bringing so much heart to the music of Ek Din.” On the photo it mentioned: “Thank you Arijit, lending your voice to our film Ek Din. The 4 days spent with you, your family and your team felt magical.”
The picture features Aamir and Arijit in a relaxed moment, with the singer holding a guitar and Aamir pointing to something on his phone, capturing the camaraderie built during the collaboration.
The note took on added significance because it arrived just days after Arijit Singh announced his retirement from playback singing, shocking fans and prompting widespread discussion within the Bollywood music community.
Despite stepping back from film work, Arijit agreed to record songs for Ek Din — honouring his prior commitments and lending his signature emotional depth to its soundtrack.
In a related message shared by the production house, Aamir described the time spent with Arijit, his family and his team as “magical” — a reflection not only of professional respect, but also personal warmth forged during the project. Their collaboration has drawn attention as a meaningful moment in both artists’ careers, bridging the emotional depth of Arijit’s music with the cinematic storytelling of Ek Din.
The film, which stars Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan and southern actress Sai Pallavi, is being positioned as a heartfelt romantic drama under the Aamir Khan Productions banner and is expected to release in 2026.
Arijit’s involvement — especially so soon after his retirement announcement — adds a layer of anticipation for audiences who associate his voice with some of Bollywood’s most iconic musical moments.
On January 27, Arijit Singh announced that he would no longer be taking on new playback singing assignments. In a heartfelt note, he wrote, "Hello. Happy New Year to all. I want to thank you all for giving me so much love all these years as listeners. I am happy to announce that I am not going to take any new assignments as a playback vocalist from now on. I am calling it quits. It was a wonderful journey.” He also reassured fans that he would honour all his existing commitments, adding, “So, you might get some releases this year."
Arijit and Aamir’s collaboration isn’t new; the singer has previously delivered memorable tracks for Aamir’s films like Dangal and Laal Singh Chaddha.
