Fans' nostalgia and admiration for CID 2 have returned, reviving the allure of one of the most recognisable crime series on Indian television. CID, which debuted in 1998, had a spectacular run until it was shut down in 2018, leaving its devoted audience devastated.
The cherished series made a much-awaited return in 2024 due to tremendous public demand, and it has been doing well on television ever since. The fact that the series is now accessible on Netflix is a huge plus for the franchise, as it broadens its audience.
Speaking to Pinkvilla, Parth opened up about sharing screen space with the veteran actor for the first time. “He learned that I’m a Maharashtrian, so we spoke in Marathi. I felt like I was in Pune with a friend. He is very relaxed and very chill. The entire unit looks up to him. They see him as a father figure. Considering his age and experience in theatre and in CID, what he has done for the show is outstanding.”
He added that he sees Satam as a fatherly figure. “He is like a son to him and it is nice to sit besides him and know his experiences.” Parth shared that they filmed together for an entire day, describing the experience as fulfilling and memorable.
In their iconic roles as ACP Pradyuman, Daya, and Abhijeet, original stars Shivaji Satam, Dayanand Shetty, and Aditya Srivastava have returned for the revival.
Viewers have a particular place in their hearts for these characters, which is why the recent on-screen passing of ACP Pradyuman was so tragic. Many fans expressed their dissatisfaction with the decision to remove Shivaji Satam from the show after the scene caused an emotional uproar on social media.
Following the emotional storyline, actor Parth Samthaan joined the cast as ACP Ayushmaan, taking over the reins as the new chief. While Parth received praise for his performance, he also faced criticism from fans who were reluctant to see anyone replace Satam. Responding once again to public sentiment, the makers brought Shivaji Satam back into the fold—delighting viewers.
