After announcing the title for the 3rd instalment of the ‘Knives Out’ franchise last week, the first cast members (or suspects) have been revealed today.
‘La Chimera’ and ‘Challengers’ star Josh O’Connor and ‘Priscilla’ and ‘Civil War’ star Cailee Spaeny will be joining Daniel Craig for Netflix’s ‘Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.’
Rian Johnson, the director of the previous two instalments, will be returning to direct the latest part with a script that he wrote. He is also producing the film with his partner, Ram Bergman through T-Street Pictures.
The teaser of the film was uploaded by Ryan Johnson on X (Formerly Twitter) and he wrote in a thread announcing the film - “I love everything about whodunnits, but one of the things I love most is how malleable the genre is. There’s a whole tonal spectrum from Carr to Christie, and getting to explore that range is one of the most exciting things about making Benoit Blanc movies.”
Plot details and other cast details are unknown as of now. The film is scheduled to go into production next month.
Emmy winning actor Josh O’Connor has been receiving widespread praise and love for his portrayal of Patric Zweig in Luca Guadagnino’s steamy tennis drama ‘Challengers’. O’Connor stars alongside Zendaya and Mike Faist in the sports film. He is also seen in Alice Rohrwacher’s ‘La Chimera.’ He will next be seen in ‘The History of Sound’ alongside Paul Mescal.
Cailee Spaeny was last seen in Sofia Coppola’s ‘Priscilla’ wherein she received a lot of praise for her portrayal of Elvis’ wife. She was also seen in the A24 film directed by Alex Garland ‘Civil War’ alongside Kirsten Dunst. She will next be seen in the newest ‘Alien’ movie titled ‘Alien: Romulus.’
‘Venom’ actor Tom Hardy and ‘Mean Girls’ actress Lindsay Lohan are also being rumoured to star in ‘Knives Out 3’.
‘Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery’ will be streaming on Netflix worldwide in 2025.
