Dan Schneider is a is a television producer, screenwriter and actor. He is most well known for his work in children’s TV shows. Schneider’s production company, Schneider Bakery, are behind some of Nickelodeon’s most famous shows including ‘iCarly’, ‘Zoey 101’, and many more.

Dan Schneider and Nickelodeon ended their partnership in March 2018 after Schneider’s abusive behaviour came to light. According to Deadline, the members of his staff were filing multiple complaints regarding his abusive behaviour. The site added that Schneider was “under a cloud of suspicion” after posting feet pictures of some of the young actresses he worked with.

On 17 March, 2024, a-four episode documentary series called ‘Quiet on set: The Dark Side of Kids TV’ was released. It is directed by Mary Robertson and Emma Schwartz and it has delved deeper into the abuse that the child stars faced during their time at Nickelodeon.

‘Zeoy 101’ star Alexa Nikolas came out against Dan Schneider’s abusive behaviour in 2022, complaining that the network failed to protect her and others like her from his horrid behaviour.

Jennette McCurdy, from ‘iCarly’, wrote in her best selling memoir, ‘I’m Glad My Mom Died’, that the network paid her “hush money” to not go public with her experiences.

Drake Bell from ‘Drake & Josh’ spoke about being sexually abused by Nickelodeon dialogue coach, Brian Peck.

Now, Dan Schneider is filing a defamation lawsuit against the producers of ‘Quiet on Set’ for portraying him to be a sexual predator. He called the documentary series a “hit-job” that falsely implicated him in crimes he didn’t commit. His attorney’s are criticising the documentary for tarnishing his reputation and legacy.

“Schneider will be the first to admit that some of what they said is true,” the lawsuit reads. “At times, he was blind to the pain that some of his behaviours caused certain colleagues, subordinates, and cast members. He will regret and atone for this behaviour the rest of his life. But one thing he is not — and the one thing that will forever mar his reputation and career both past and present — is a child sexual abuser.”
